Tell me about your real estate work?
I started working in real estate as soon as I graduated college. I began in Pennsylvania, as part of ReMax, selling houses. When I moved to the New York/ New Jersey area I worked at a boutique office in Hoboken where I learned the ropes in a different market. I started out doing rentals. I was doing 8 to 15 rentals on average a month. I loved the real estate world from the beginning and still love it for its flexibility. You get to set your own hours, (which most of the times are more than 40 hours/ week). Sometimes you’re working around the clock. After about three years I got my brokers license and opened my own office with a partner, Prestige Properties. I knew I could continue doing the rentals myself as an active agent and teach others what I have learned along the way. Around 2014 and 2015 we started getting much more in the sales. I knew that getting listings was where the real way to grow the business was going to be. That is where the leads come from and who controls the market. The best part of working in real estate: you can be on vacation and make money while one of your listings could sell.
How did you get into that?
I got into that while I was trying to find a flexible career I would like to do while pursuing acting at the same time. I needed the flexibility to be able to audition and go to work on acting projects when they came up. My uncle was already working in real estate and he was the person that opened my eyes into real estate sales and investing.
What are your goals in that field?
To continue to work actively in sales and listings and help clients. Teach others what I’ve learned. Ultimately grow the business and keep working on that aspect of it so that it essentially can run itself for the most part one day. Hiring the right people is the key for that.
Tell me a fun fact about yourself.
My natural sport was swimming. I think if I would’ve focused on that I would’ve really gotten somewhere in the swimming world. I still hold records in eight and under and 10 and under categories for my swim leagues. My dad was a really good swimmer as well so it just came naturally.
What are you watching on TV these days?
Ozark, Shameless, True Detective are my favorite series to watch right now.
Anything else you want to share?
I started a YouTube channel during this pandemic that deals with a lot of financial knowledge, investing, stocks, real estate, and also some tips on acting and auditioning in the entertainment industry. I’ve always been a big believer in people following their dreams but you have to be smart, savvy and financially knowledgeable while doing so. You can ultimately mold your life to the exact way you want it to be just by making a little adjustments and discovering life hacks here and there.
