FOOTBALL IN HIGH HEELS: THE PRESEASON
For the past few days, I have been posting about different terms and positions I have been learning about in football. I had every intention of learning and posting about more defense terms tonight, but then I learned about something else that completely changed my plans.
Apparently, before the actual football season begins, there is a preseason. When I first heard of this, my thought was that it was similar to the initial auditions and Hollywood/Vegas week on shows such as America’s Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance. My thought was that there were several games played with different teams and the winner from each game moved on to the next round. I could have probably compared it to the Presidential debates and been more accurate. Okay, maybe not, but it just goes to show you how clueless I am about football….but hey, I am willing to learn!
So what is this preseason? It is actually quite simple. There is no elimination or teams moving on to the next round, it is instead just another way to practice before the season begins. Most teams that play against each other are relatively close to each other geographically.
Fans are able to buy tickets to these games, just like they do for regular season games. Below is the schedule as per ESPN.
