FOOTBALL IN HIGH HEELS: TWO SNAPS UP!

Today marks the end of football playing terms we are going to learn, but fret not, tomorrow we get into something that has had me confused since day one! No, I am not talking about which player is the cutest, I am talking about the penalties, so be sure to stay tuned as I try to figure it all out!

Sack—What It Means: This is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.  This is done due to a loss of yardage.

What I Thought It Meant: Since this is a family show, I will go with the PG rated version. It is another term for firing someone, I had a mental image of Donald Trump storming out on the field and randomly firing players.

You can’t even score a touchdown….you’re FIRED!!!!!

Secondary—What It Means: These are the four defensive players who defend against the pass and line up behind the linebackers. They are wide on the corners of the field opposite the receivers.

What I Thought It Meant: The secondary players on the team that were equivalent of being second string. It reminds me of the episode of Boy Meets World when Cory was second string and ended up saving the day.

First string, second string….this is still one of the best shows of all time.

Snap—What It Means: This is when the ball is hiked (aka tossed between the legs) by the center to the quarterback, who then tosses it to the holder on a kick attempt, or to the punter. Once this occurs, the ball is officially in play and action begins.

What I Thought It Meant: Snapping for any reason, either for attention, or as it is done on In Living Color, two snaps up!

Two snaps up on that awesome touchdown!

Special teams—What It Means: These are the 22 players who are on the field during kicks and punts. These players not only return punts and kicks, but they are  are also experts at covering kicks and punts.

What I Thought It Meant: The team of the month, equivalent to Student or Employee of the Month.
