OLYMPICS IN HIGH HEELS: THE MEN’S TRIALS BEGIN
STAMFORD, Conn. – June 22, 2016 – NBC Olympics continues its unprecedented presentation of the U.S. Olympic Trials with the men’s gymnastics Trials from St. Louis, Mo., beginning this Thursday, June 23, live at 8:30 p.m. ET, on NBCSN. Coverage continues in primetime this Saturday, June 25, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs – will livestream all the action, and present supplemental digital-only coverage beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday and Saturday.
Sam Mikulak, who earned a fourth consecutive U.S. all-around title earlier this month, headlines the field for the men’s gymnastics Trials. He will be joined by his 2012 Olympic teammates Jake Dalton, John Orozco, and Danell Leyva, who earned a bronze medal for Team USA in the men’s all-around at the London Games. Donnell Whittenburg, who was second at the 2016 AT&T American Cup, is also expected to be a contender. The 2016 U.S. Olympic men’s gymnastics team will be announced following Saturday’s competition.
NBC Sports Group’s gymnastics team of play-by-play voice Al Trautwig, two-time Olympic medalist Tim Daggett, 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin and reporter Andrea Joyce will host coverage of the men’s gymnastics Trials and the 2016 P&G Women’s Gymnastics Championships (see below).
2016 P&G WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
NBC Sports presents coverage of the 2016 P&G Women’s Gymnastics Championships from St. Louis, Mo., this Friday, June 24, and Sunday, June 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will live stream coverage.
The field for the 2016 P&G Women’s Gymnastics Championships is led by Simone Biles, who is seeking her fourth straight U.S. all-around title at the P&G championships. Biles looks to make her Olympic debut in Rio on the heels of three consecutive world all-around championship titles (2013-15). She will be joined by 2012 Olympic individual all-around gold medalist Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman, who earned the 2012 Olympic gold medal for floor exercise. Douglas and Raisman were a part of the “Fierce Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics squad that took home the team gold medal in London.
NBC Olympics’ coverage of the women’s gymnastics Trials from San Jose, Calif., begins Friday, July 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and continues on Sunday, July 10, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
NBC and NBCSN combine to present primetime coverage of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials during an unprecedented 20 of 23 nights. NBC Sports Films will premiere The Ranch: Home of An American Sports Dynasty, a one-hour special which explores Karolyi Ranch, the historic U.S. women’s gymnastics team training center built by legendary coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi, Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
