Tour de France 2017: Stage 6
by Katie Haskins
Stage type: Road Race – sprint finish
Length: 216 km/134.2 miles
Route: Vesoul to Troyes
We have another sprint finish today with two Category 4 climbs during the stage.
Three men formed a breakaway at the start of the stage. They were given a maximum lead of 4 minutes. They were caught at 3.2 km/1.9 miles to go.
An interesting thing happened at about 87.7km left. An umbrella from one of the fans along the road ended up blowing onto the road. Somehow, the entire peloton got around it without incident.
The sprint finish was hotly contested. It looked like Arnaud Demare would win another stage, but Kittel came up on the outside from 10th to win in 5:05:34.
The top of the overall leader board did not change
- Chris Froome – 23:44:33

- Richie Porte – :39
