TV IN HIGH HEELS: DANCING WITH THE STARS RECAP FOR NOVEMBER 13, 2017
Hello and welcome to ABC’s Dancing With The Stars! It is the semi-finals and tonight our final five couples will dance twice. One round is iconic dances from past seasons and the other has the pros choosing songs to represent their partners.
Round 1:
Celebrity: Drew Scott
Claim To Fame: Property Brother
Pro: Emma Slater
Dance: Tango
Song: I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles by The Proclaimers
Sammi: I love that he is in a kilt. I have to say, this is one of my favorite dances that he has done on the show. He’s got such great spirit and a wonderful personality. Technically, he may not be the best, but he is definitely the best when it comes to showmanship and congeniality. The lifting of the kilts at the end was epic. I usually don’t like other people joining the couple but this was great.
Len: He parts of the technique, but he loved the rest.
Bruno: He gives him places to improved, but he enjoyed it.
Carrie Ann: He is always entertaining, but it is missing artistry.
Scores: 8-8-8=24 out of 30
His bagpipe playing attempt was adorable. Can we just keep him and let him be adorable?
Celebrity: Victoria Arlen
Claim To Fame: Paralympic swimmer, ESPN host
Pro: Val Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Contemporary
Song: To Build A Home by Cinematic Orchestra and Patrick Watson
Sammi: I can’t stop crying over this…all of it….wow. I love how Jenna joined in order to make the dedication to her parents more symbolic.
Bruno: It was a wonderful story.
Carrie Ann: She inspired her.
Len: It was her life story through dance.
Scores: 9-9-9=27 out of 30.
Celebrity: Jordan Fisher
Claim To Fame: Hamilton and Grease Live star
Pro: Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Argentine Tango
Song: Brother by NEEDTOBREATHE and Gavin DeGraw
Sammi: It’s not as fiery as a typical Argentine Tango, but it was a very unique dance. I quite enjoyed it, mostly because it was so different.
Carrie Ann: She loves him, but there was a bit of a disconnect.
Len: Too much story, not enough dance.
Bruno: It was strong, stylish and well balanced.
Scores: 9-9-10=28 out of 30
Celebrity: Lindsey Stirling
Claim To Fame: Violinist
Pro: Mark Ballas
Dance: Contemporary
Song: Head High by Alexander Jean
Sammi: Perfection to a T. Nothing else to say.
Len: Fabulous.
Bruno: He loved it.
Carrie Ann: She is deep blood Earth mama. Okay then!
Scores: 10-9-10=29 out of 30
Celebrity: Frankie Muniz
Claim To Fame: Malcolm In The Middle star
Pro: Witney Carson
Dance: Sals
Song: Shake By Yin Yang Twins and Pitbull
Sammi: The beginning reminds me of a dance off mixed with West Side Story? However, it is HOT! I love Frankie more and more every week. There was bit that was off with it, but overall, it was great!
Bruno: He loved the originality and spirit.
Carrie Ann: He gave his all.
Len: Too much hip hop, not enough hip action.
Scores:8-8-9=25 out of 30
Round 2:
Celebrity: Drew Scott
Claim To Fame: Property Brother
Pro: Emma Slater
Dance: Jazz
Iconic Dance: “Yeah!” (feat. Lil Jon, Ludacris) by Usher (Season 17, Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff)
Sammi: The personality was amazing, but the dance was lacking something for me. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but it was a bit off. The music was also off, especially since the song is more upbeat.
Len: He did well, but needs more finesse.
Bruno: He enjoyed it, but gives him places to improve.
Carrie Ann: He went for it and made it his own.
Scores: 8-8-8=24 out of 30
His bagpipe playing attempt was adorable. Can we just keep him and let him be adorable?
Celebrity: Victoria Arlen
Claim To Fame: Paralympic swimmer, ESPN host
Pro: Val Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Charleston
Iconic Dance: “Bang Bang” by will.i.am (Season 17, Amber Riley and Derek Hough)
Sammi: I think someone got her first tens tonight. That was epic beyond epic.
Bruno: It was spot on and he loved how she made it her own.
Carrie Ann: She forgot about the original when watching them.
Len: It was a performance.
Scores: 9-910-10=29 out of 30.
Celebrity: Jordan Fisher
Claim To Fame: Hamilton and Grease Live star
Pro: Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Jazz
Iconic Dance: “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner (Season 22, Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas)
Sammi: I don’t know which version I like better….the original was amazing, but this one brings it to a whole new level.
Carrie Ann: Standing O!
Len: It gave him so much joy. A yardstick performance.
Bruno: It topped the original.
Scores: PERFECT SCORE!!!
Celebrity: Lindsey Stirling
Claim To Fame: Violinist
Pro: Mark Ballas
Dance: Tango
Iconic Dance: “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris (Season 18, Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy)
Sammi: I loved every moment. It is hard to compare the two dances because the partners are so different, but I like how they put their own spin on it.
Len: Plenty of snap, crackle and pop.
Bruno: They were like mirror images.
Carrie Ann: Their type of chemistry is powerful.
Scores: 9-9-10=28 out of 30
Celebrity: Frankie Muniz
Claim To Fame: Malcolm In The Middle star
Pro: Witney Carson
Dance: Paso doble
Iconic Dance: “Carnival De Paris” by Dario G (Season 4, Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough)
Sammi: I love Apolo, I want to name my future son after him, but I have to give this round to Frankie and Witney. They killed it.
Bruno: He loved the attitude, but work on the shoulders.
Carrie Ann: Good job, but expand a bit more.
Len: He liked it so much, but wanted more shaping.
Scores:9-8-9=26 out of 30
Results!! Lindsey and Mark, Drew and Emma and Jordan and Lindsay are in the finals.
Frankie and Witney and Victoria are in the bottom two. The couple leaving right now is….Victoria and Val. I am shocked…SHOCKED!!! She is such an inspiration and girl, if you are reading this, THANK YOU. I want my goddaughter to look at you, see your hard work and inspiration and say she wants to be just like you.
Aw, her mom and dad come out to hug her. I think Lindsey Stirling is more upset than Victoria with how she is crying.
FINALE NEXT WEEK! Stay tuned.
