Push for the Playoffs to Air on NBCSN

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 5, 2019 – NBC Sports’ “Push for the Playoffs” features six NHL games on NBCSN this week, highlighted by a Wednesday Night Hockeydoubleheader beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET, when Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals visit Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers. Coverage continues at 10 p.m. ET, when Vladimir Tarasenko and the St. Louis Blues face Ryan Getzlaf and the Anaheim Ducks.

This week’s NHL coverage also features a Star Sunday Presented by AT&Tdoubleheader on NBCSN, which begins at 7:30 p.m. ET when Evgeni Malkin and the Pittsburgh Penguins host Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins. Star Sunday shifts west at 10 p.m. ET, when Drew Doughty and the Los Angeles Kings face Getzlaf and the Ducks.

P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators kick off this week’s action tonight on NBCSN at 8 p.m. ET when they host Ryan Suter and the Minnesota Wild. 2017 NTT IndyCar Series champion and Nashville native Josef Newgarden goes “Inside-the-Glass” for tonight’s Wild-Predators clash. Thursday night’s NHL coverage features the Penguins hosting Matt Duchene and the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

NBC SPORTS PRESENTS “WIRED: STADIUM SERIES – PENGUINS VS. FLYERS” TONIGHT AT 11 P.M. ET ON NBCSN FOLLOWING WILD-PREDATORS

NBC Sports will take fans inside the sounds and passion of hockey with a one-hour special “Wired: Stadium Series – Penguins vs. Flyers” tonight at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN, immediately following coverage of the Minnesota Wild vs. Nashville Predators.

The program will utilize audio from a total of 12 players, coaches and referees from the Philadelphia Flyers’ thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2019 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. on Feb. 23 on NBC.

Carl Hagelin scored his first goal with the Capitals in the victory. Philadelphia (32-26-8, 72 pts) enters the week five points behind Pittsburgh and Montreal, who occupy the first and second Wild Card spots in the East. The Flyers are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, including a 4-1 win against the Islanders on Sunday.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk(analyst), and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. St. Louis (34-25-6, 74 pts) currently sits in third place in the Central Division, three points ahead of Dallas and Minnesota. The Blues have lost two straight games following a 12-1-1 mark in February. Ryan O’Reilly leads the Blues with 63 points (24g/39a) in 65 games this season. Anaheim (25-32-9, 59 pts) enters the week following a 2-1 victory over Colorado on Sunday to snap a five-game losing streak, as John Gibsonmade 25 saves for the Ducks.

Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Brian Hayward (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

STAR SUNDAY PRESENTED BY AT&T – BRUINS-PENGUINS – 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Bruins (39-17-9, 87 pts) are 12-0-4 in their last 16 games including a 1-0 win against the Devils on Saturday. Brad Marchand, the featured Bruin on Star Sunday, scored the lone goal for Boston. Tuukka Rask is 14-0-3 in his past 18 games.

Pittsburgh (34-22-9, 77 pts) currently holds the first Wild Card spot in the East and is tied with Montreal. The Penguins beat the Canadiens, 5-1, on Saturday, and Evgeni Malkin, this week’s featured Penguin on Star Sunday, netted the eventual game-winner.

Los Angeles (24-33-8, 56 pts) enters the week following a 6-3 win against the Blackhawks on Sunday. Drew Doughty will be the featured King on Star Sunday this week and recorded an assist in the victory. Ryan Getzlaf, who leads Anaheim in points, will be the featured Duck on Star Sunday.

WILD-PREDATORS – TONIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Nashville (38-25-5, 81 pts) and Minnesota (32-27-7, 71 pts) wrap up a home-and-home series tonight in Nashville. The Predators beat the Wild, 3-2, in a shootout on Sunday on NBCSN. Filip Forsberg tied the game late in regulation, and Ryan Johansenscored the deciding goal in the shootout. The Predators are one point behind Winnipeg for the Central Division lead, while Minnesota currently occupies the second Wild Card spot in the West.

2017 NTT IndyCar Series champion and Nashville Predators fan Josef Newgarden will be an ‘Inside-the-Glass’ guest tonight during the first period of Wild-Predators. He will join Pierre McGuire and John Walton (play-by-play), who will have the call from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Tappen alongside Jones and Jeremy Roenick.

BLUE JACKETS-PENGUINS – THURSDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Columbus (36-26-3, 75 pts) sits two points behind Pittsburgh and Montreal for the two Wild Card spots in the East and has lost two straight games. The Blue Jackets loaded up for a postseason run at the trade deadline with a number of acquisitions, including forwards Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel and defenseman Adam McQuaid. Columbus visits New Jersey on Tuesday.
