VIDEO: SAN QUENTIN INMATES’ SPECIAL “Q BALL” DOCUMENTARY

FOX Sports Films recently re-visited San Quentin State Prison to engage with inmates during a special screening of Q BALL, the insightful documentary about life and sports inside the facility, featuring their own Warriors basketball team.

The film, executive produced by Kevin Durant and directed by Michael Tolajian, re-airs July 12 and 26 at 9:00 pm EST on FS1, as part of FOX Sports’ MAGNIFY feature-length documentary series.

Following the San Quentin premiere, inmates shared their emotional reactions to the documentary and seeing their lives unfold on screen. This was their first look at footage since filming began in 2016 and finished in 2018.

Q BALL chronicles the lives of incarcerated basketball players at San Quentin State Prison, exploring inmates’ personal struggles as they search for redemption and transcendence both on and off the court. The answers, characters, and stories are complex, but for these prisoners, basketball is an escape from the reality of their situations.
