Masahiro Tanaka takes the ball for the Yankees as the Rays start Blake Snell in tonight’s game.
Skipping to top of the third inning, Tanaka gets a groundout before Kevin Kiermaier triples on a line drive to right field. He’d come home on the single to the next batter, Michael Perez. Another single, and Brandon Lowe connects on the second pitch for a home run. Rays lead 4-0.
Next inning, an out, a single, an out, and a double before Gary Sanchez lets a ball get past him, letting the fifth run for the Rays score. However, he’d take back that run with one of his own. A home run to left center field to make the score 5-1 Rays.
However it was short lived as the Rays would up their lead to five runs with a home run by Austin Meadows. 6-1 Rays. But the Yankees would battle back in the bottom on the fifth with Luke Voit knocking in a two run homer and halving the deficit.
Seventh inning, Clint Frazier with an assist to Gleyber Torres to get Perez out at second as he tried to stretch his hit into a double, keeping the Rays from getting on base this inning. The Yankees would load the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out, but could not capitalize.
