Another doubleheader, this time due to last night’s game being rained out.
Game 1
The bats of the Bronx Bombers were back at it in the first inning with two home runs. DJ LeMahieu started it off with a solo shot to left field and Brett Gardner follow up with a two run shot to right. 3-0 Yankees.
Kyle Higashioka didn’t want to left out and hit his first home run of the season. 5-0 Yankees.
Gleyber Torres squeaked out a double and Gary Sanchez walked in the sixth inning. Mike Tauchman hot a hit after a passed ball moved the runners up. Torres scores.
Gerrit Cole pitched a complete seven inning game only allowing two hits.
Yankees win 6-0.
Game 2
Masahiro Tanaka gives up a home run to DJ Stewart in the first inning. LeMahieu starts off with a walk for the Yankees. Luke Voit gets on base with a single to left. Aaron Hicks flies out to left. LeMahieu tags and makes it to third on a bad throw to the thirdbaseman. Clint Frazier reaches on a fielder’s choice. Jose Iglesias fires one to home plate, but is off, the ball dropped and LeMahieu makes it safely. Torres and Miguel Andujar gets run scoring hits before Gary Sanchez strikes out. Orioles make a pitching change and get out of the inning without more damage. 4-1 Yankees.
Tanaka settles down and while the second inning wasn’t easy, he doesn’t allow another run to score.
Bottom of the fourth. Voit hits a three run home run and repeats that feat in the fifth inning. 10-1 Yankees.
Yankees sweep the doubleheader.
