9/15 – Blue Jays @ Yankees

BASEBALL IN HIGH HEELS: TV ALERT

Prior to the game, the Yankees activated Jonathan Loaisiga, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gio Urshela from the IL.

The pitchers did their jobs in the first inning. Deivi Garcia getting the Blue Jays out in order on nine pitches, while Taijuan Walker did it on 12.

Second inning, first pitch home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. A first pitch hit by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. gets him on base, but Garcia gets out of the inning without anymore damage. Yankees comes to bat.  Stanton ground out. Urshela hits a first pitch double to the left field wall. Clint Frazier hits the ball to right and it’s dropped by Derek Fisher. Gardner hits one to right field. Fisher can’t catch up and bounces into the bullpen wall as Urshela ties the game. Gary Sanchez strikes out. Another hit to right field that gets passed Fisher to score Gardner. Luke Voit comes to bat and hit a three run homer to the left field bleachers. Hicks follows up with a solo shot to the middle of the 2nd deck in right field. Walker is knocked out, replaced by Shun Yamaguchi who strikes out Stanton. 7-1 Yankees.

Bottom of the third, bases loaded on walks, no one out. Sanchez and Tyler Wade hit by pitches to drive in runs. DJ LeMahieu hits a 3 run double. Yamaguchi gets the next three batters to pop out, flyout, and strikeout to get out of the inning. 12-1 Yankees.

Top of the fourth. Gurriel Jr. Hits a two run home run just over the left field wall. The Bronx Bombers come to bat with Sanchez blasting a three run shot to left field after a pitching change. LeMahieu hits a deep fair ball to right and Voit hits run that drops just in front of Fisher who seems scared of the ball. Hicks and Stanton walk, bases loaded but Urshela lines out. 16-3 Yankees.

No runs scored in the fifth, but another ball gets past Fisher in right. Sixth inning, another home run by Voit for another run. Seventh inning, a two run shot by Frazier. Eighth inning, LeMahieu hits one. 20-3 Yankees.

Top of the ninth, final three outs for the Blue Jays. The bats finally come to life for Toronto. Gurriel on base with a hit to right. Joe Panik hits a double, the ball getting past Frazier and Mike Tauchman, allowing Gurriel to score. Another hit puts a runner on the corners. Fisher hits one back to the pitcher who gets the out at second. Fisher is safe at first as the throw for the double play is just a hair late and out of reach of Voit. Panik scores. A strikeout for the second out of the inning. Bo Bichette get a double on a bloop to left field that scores another run. A walk and a single to load the bases for the Blue Jays as Guerrero Jr steps into the batters box. He hits one on the ground and the Yankees get the final out.
