Stage 16: LA TOUR-DU-PIN>VILLARD-DE-LANS
It took a few tries for the breakaway to establish. Eventually it was 15 riders crossing the intermediate sprint. They were joined by three more as they made their way up the second climb of the day. Two riders took it out over the top with Pierre Rolland taking the top points for the KOM.
The break became 23 riders. Rolland jumping off the front for a short near the top of the third climb grabbing his second KOM points, tying him for the lead in that competition. He started the day in sixth place.
The breakaway started to split as they went up the category 1 climb. Five riders crested the top together. Lennard Kamna took the points and continued solo to the finish.
Benoit Cesnefroy retains the KOM jersey for another day. The other jerseys remain unchanged as well.
